Dutch crews for American liberty ships bought by the Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Vrije stemmen van Schouwen-Duivelands dated Tuesday 22 October 1946

An item reported that last Saturdan afternoon from Rotterdam the Dutch merchant ship Weltevreden departed towards the USA with on board 900 Dutch sailors of which the major part of Amsterdam. They were the crews for new Dutch ships of which a part especially was build for Dutch companies and other so-called Liberty-ships bought by from the Dutch cabinet out of American surplus stocks. Within short time was the Dutch merchant ships increased with forty ships. The newspaper Zierikzeesche Nieuwsbode dated 22 October confirmed this item. Both newspaper dated 24 October mentioned that the Netherlands bought forty Liberty ships.
