US Maritime Commission ordered the building of five freighters according to the Dutch newspaper De Indische Courant dated 14 September 1939

An item dated New York 13 September reported that the Maritime Commission ordered the building of five freighters with a building costs of each 1.909.000 American dollars by the shipyard of the Bethlehem Steel Works.
