French transport l’Annamite wrecked according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 31 January 1891

An item reported that at Toulon was feared that the transport l‘Annamite was lost. She left on 1 January Toulon with 711 passengers on board towards Cochin China and Tonkin. Rumours said that she was sunk at sea after disembarking a detachment infantry at Oran, ALgeria.
