An item reported that recently the British hospital ship Spartan departed towards South Africa to care there for the wounded and sick.(1) She was a beautiful screw steamship of almost 3,500 tons built in 1881 at Glasgow and now complete fitted out as a hospital even with a lift for the wounded or sick which were allowed to be moved. Further more were doctors and nurses on board.
