American shipyards building concrete and Cuba steel merchant ships according to the Dutch newspaper Suriname: koloniaal nieuws- en advertentieblad dated 19 April 1918

An item reported that five American shipyards were allowed to build ships made of concrete which were less vulnerable for German submarine attacks. Cuba intended to build merchant ships of steel.
