England seizing merchant ships according to the Dutch newspaper Het vrije volk dated 3 August 1956

An item referred to an announcement of the British Department for Transport a number of merchants ships would be seized to serve as troop transports destined for the eastern part of the Mediterranean.(1)

1. Between 29 October and 7 November was the notorious Suez Crisis also known ar Suez War, Tripartite Aggression and Second Arab-Israeli War caused by Egypt nationalizing the Suez Canal. Opponents were England, France and Israel at one side and Egypt at other side.
