Russian cruiser Kirov built with Italian support according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1939 no. 8

An item referred to the magazine Revista Maritima dated May 1939 reporting that the Russian cruiser Kirow (1) was built at Leningrad with the support of Italian engineers using Italian designs. Her displacement was 7.800 ton. The turbines supplied 100.000 hp allowing a speed of 38 knots while diesel engines allowed a cruising speed of 17 knots. The armament consisted of 3x3-18,55cm guns, 4-102,cm anti aircraft guns,4-3,9cm anti aircraft guns, 2-53,3cm torpedo tubes and 4 float planes for which she was fitted out with a catapult.(1)

1. The Kirov-class the so-called Project 26, 26bis and 26bis2 consisted of 6 cruisers called Kirov, Voroshilov, Maxim Gorky, Molotov, Kalinin and Kaganovich. While for the last four ships the armour was strengthened are they sometimes indicated as belonging to the Maxim Gorky-class. For this class was the Italian light cruiser Raimondo Montecuccoli-design used and engineers of the Italian shipbuilding company Ansaldo assisted during the building. She was laid down at the Ordzhonikze Yard at Leningrad on 22 October 1935, launched on 30 November 1936, commissioned on 26 September tow years later and finally broken up on 22 February 1974.
