Dutch shipyard Kon Mij. De Schelde at Flushing, Netherlands not successful in obtaining orders from Japanese government in 1886

In 1886 were attempts made to the Japanese market regarded the meeting of the commissaries on 3 October. With the Dutch representative in Japan and Mr. Van Hemert were the possibilities discussed how to obtain orders from the Japanese government. At that moment was this government intending to increase her navy mainly with torpedo boats large model and fast destroyers. On 12 February of the next year was however nothing news to report by the director. On 16 May had the director Jos. van Raalte better news. There was a small possibility to start negotiations with the Japanese government for delivering vessels. He intended to go with engineer Martin on short notice to London ask the Dutch ambassador over there for more details. On 4 July reported the director that he indeed visited the ambassador in London who promised to inform him on the moment the Japanese commission arrived in England. This promise was kept while on 3 December the director informed the board that on short notice the Japanese commission would arrive. He would try to get introduced. Further more he found it desirable to appoint an agent at Yokohama recommending J.Ph. van Hemert on commission conditions.
