An item reported that the same morning the German steam tanker Burgermeister Petersen (1) arrived at Vlissingen, Netherlands coming from New York, USA with a cargo of petroleum.

1. Launched on 24 August 1889 at the shipyard of Sir W.G. Armstrong, Mitchell&Co. Low Walker with yardnumber 553 and in September delivered to G.J.H. Siemers&Co. of Hamburg, Germany. Registered on 10 April a year later. In May 1891 transferred to the Deutsch-Amerikanische Petroleum Gesellschaft. On 1 September 1914 handed over to the German Imperial Navy for use as a submarine storeship although already on 1 November given back. The next year was she again handed over to the navy (on 27 October) to be used as tanker at the navy yard at Danzig (Gdansk). She sunk while hitting a Russian mine in the Danziger Bucht on 10 November. Dimensions 94,2 (over all) x 12,2 Metres. Speed 9 knots.
