Uruguay needed own merchant marine according to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf dated 4 February 1941

An item reported that the decreasing number of British cargo ships caused an almost complete ending of the Uruguayan meat export. The national press demanded that Uruguay got an own merchant marine.
