From New York was reported that as a result of the decision of Argentina to strengthen her navy and the latest speech of president Taft the American Congress decided to built each yare two new dreadnoughts. The Democrats first wanted just yearly one dreadnought. The naval commission of the House of Representatives proposed this House to approve the budget for two new dreadnoughts of maximum 28,000 ton. The Secretary of Navy claimed that the building costs of a dreadnought of 28,000 were almost similar to a 26,000 tons dreadnought. Larger warships were not desired regarded the dimensions of the locks in the Panama channel. The commission proposed also to enlarge the docks in the four naval bases to be able to dock 30,000 ton ships. The naval shipbuilding program for this year consisted of 2 dreadnoughts, 5 submarines, 3 destroyers, 1 repair ship and 2 large coalers.
