The Egyptian, Greek and Turkish navies in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 8 December 1825

Vienna, 26 November. Maritime authorities of Trieste send reports dealing with information received from masters coming out of the Levant. According to this reports succeeded the Captain Pasha in persuading Mehemet pasha to hand over to him the command of the fleet recently fitted out at Alexandria. So this fleet didn't leave Alexandria in divisions but complete. Mehemet refused to come on board when the Egyptian soldiers were embarked fearing that he was to be taken to Constantinople. He didn't trust the Captain Pasha, perhaps with some reason. Immediately after the departure of the expedition left the Greek fleet the Egyptian coasts en Rhodes and sailed towards Morea. The combined Turkish squadron arrived without any problems off Candia where the Captain Pasha stayed for some time before going towards the coasts of Morea.
