The French naval shipbuilding program according to the Dutch newspaper Schiedamsche Courant dated 2 December 1937

According to rumours in the Chamber said Campeche (1) against the naval commission the naval shipbuilding program which was two years earlier projected still was executed. The Jean Bart, the first of the four 35,000 tons battleships was for 55% completed and could be commissioned in 1939 and the Richelieu in 1940. Lacking a decreased budget was the founding of the new naval base at Mers-el-Kebir at Oran, Alger delayed but the activities were now accelerated resumed.
