For years was in the Netherlands a
magazine published dealing with maritime affairs. Her naval strength that year
was on paper: 10 ships of the line (none in service), 10 frigates, 21
corvettes, 3 brigs, 1 schooner, 6 screw steamships 1st class, 8 screw
steamships 2nd class, 6 building, 4 screw steamships 3rd class, 1 screw
steamship 4th class and 7 paddle steamships. Fitted out for service were 3
frigates with 150 guns, 21 corvettes with 388 guns, 3 brigs with 16 guns, 5
screw steam frigates with 172 guns, 1 screw steam corvette with 13 guns, 2
small vessels with 11 guns and 7 paddle steamships with 39 guns.
