For years was in the Netherlands a magazine published dealing with maritime affairs. It published in 1849 a news item, originally published in the United Service Magazine dated April 1849.
Personnel: 1 High-Admiral, 8 vice-admirals, 39 rear-admirals, 72 captains 1st class, 80 captains 2nd class and 211 captain lieutenants, totally 411 flag officers.
Baltic Sea fleet: 1-120 gun ships of the line, 3-110 gun ships of the line, 13-84 gun ships of the line, 12-74 gun ships of the line and 30 frigates armed with 44-60 guns., totally 59 ships, excluded some steamships and small armed vessels.
Black Sea Fleet: 3-120 gun ships of the line, 3-110 gun ships of the line, 7-74 gun ships of the line, 8-60 guns frigates and 10-44 guns frigates, totally 41 ships, excluded some steamships and transports. Stations Sebastolpo, Cherson and Nicolaieff.
Caspian Sea Flotilla: Some smaller vessels, gunboats and so on. Headquarter at Astrakan.
In the White Sea (?) a flotilla of small vessels with headquarter at Archangel.
Totally in service 42 ships of the line and 48 frigates.
