British squadron and Danish frigate Rosa visiting Toulon according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 5 July 1838

Tidings from Toulon dated 27 June reported that the public was disappointed that the rumours dealing with the admiral of the British admiral Stopford weren’t true. When that afternoon gun salutes were heard it was believed that Stopford arrived but it was just the Danish frigate Rosa. This ship was sent form Copenhagen towards the Mediterranean to protect the Danish interests in that area. The steamboat le Coureur which usually served off Toulon was ordered to depart next morning towards the sea with the navy band and to go forward to the British squadron which was to consist of 4 ships of the line, 1 frigate, 1 corvette and a steamboat. According to tidings from Paris arrived Stopford 27 June.
