French warships fitted out at Toulon for blockade services off Mexico and Buenos Aires according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 22 August 1838

According to tidings from Toulon dated until 15 August were all efforts done at the naval shipyards and arsenals to fit out several frigates and other warships. They were destined to strengthen the squadrons off Mexico and the Republic of Buenos Aires. The frigate la Nereide which become the flagship of rear admiral Baudin off the Mexican coast embarked 350 artillerists. There were also to be send reinforcements to the French squadron in the bay of Tunis.
