Paris, 13 February. The Greek war steamship and a goelette were lying at
that moment at Corsica. The French corvette la Glorieuse commanded by frigate
captain de Villeneuve Burglemont anchored 16 January off Ajaccio and departed
the 20th. It was the station of the ships with on board 46 navy scholars who
recently left the school of Angouleme and which sailed for the first time on a
training voyage. From Corsica they were destined towards Sardinia, Sicily and
the Levant. When the ship left Toulon she lost in a storm two of her sloops and
the topsail but still needed just 12 hours to cross the channel.
