Paris,
19 July. According to letters coming from Rio Janeiro dated 29 April was a
Brazilian squadron of one frigate,3 corvettes and 10 gun sloops send towards
Montevideo to help against the patriots commanded by Bolivar.
According
to tidings from Rochefort left the frigate l’Armide (1) and the la Chevrette
(2) Rochefort, the first 11 July and the latter the 13th both with troops for
Cadiz. A telegraphic message reported the departure of the corvettes la Moselle
(3) and le Tarn (4) the 16th from Brest via Rochefort towards Cadiz. The la
Dauphinaise (5) arrived the 15th at Brest coming from Brazil and Martinique.

Frigate transport or a 44-gun 3rd class frigate of the Venus-class, wood built,
building begun at Nantes but dismantled and transport to Lorient, where she was
laid down December 1812, launched 1 May 1821, commissioned 5 March 1823, 1844
at Toulon rebuilt, reclassified as transport 14 May 1851, 1859 as hospital ship
homeport Brest, 800 tons, armed with 2 guns, renamed l’Entrepôt 1866 and broken
up 1888. Dimensions 152’7”(waterline)-154’0” (deck) x 39’1”-40’0” (exterior) x
17’8” (mean)-19’1” (maximum) and a depth of 16’4”. Her crew numbered 327 men.
Sister ships Duchesse de Berry, Constance, Thetis and Astree.
