The
newspaper Allgemeine Zeitung published a letter from Livorno dated 23
July. This letter mentioned tidings from Alexandria until 6 July and that the
Egyptian fleet of Mehemed Ali all ready left Alexandria towards the Syrian
coasts to sail and patrol along these coasts. The decision for the departure
was the tiding that the Turkish fleet recently sailed towards Caramanie and
made by Mehemet Ali despite contrary of foreign representatives.
