Discovery of remains of the Spanish silver fleet destroyed at Vigo in 1702 according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 15 December 1825

London, 9 December. A ship arrived coming Portugal which visited Vigo and her master told that the British company all ready discovered 5 Spanish ships which sunk in the bay in 1705 and some of silver and hardly damaged were salvaged.(1)

1. This must be the Spanish silver fleet escorted by a French squadron destroyed or captured by a combined British Dutch fleet 23 October 1702 in the Bay of Vigo.
