The Algerian, Greek and Turkish navies in the Levant according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 17 September 1821

Smyrna, 28 July. The Turkish fleet of 32 ships was lying off Cape Colonna south of Samos while the Greek fleet of 120 ships was sighted near Scio. Although a battle was to be expected nothing happened yet.(1) Algiers, 18 July. The privateer fleet is being fitted out but is still uncertain if she will depart to sea fearing that the Greek fleet was to strong.

Note
1. In fact the battle found already place at 24 July but the news didn’t reach Smyrna yet.
