Trieste, 20 September. The just arrived steam packet of Venice came with the tiding that 18 September after a voyage of 6 days a ship arrived coming from Corfu. Her passengers told about what happened in the Channel of Samos by which event the Captain Bey of Tunis who commanded the burned frigate was taken prisoner. There were one Turkish ship of the line and 2 frigates burned and all Turkish soldiers at Samos were killed. The Greek admiral Miaulis seemed to have beaten the Egyptian fleet. The information was send by the two Greek vice admirals to the governor if the island Sira. The Turkish lost in the first battle the admirals' ship, two frigates, one corvette, one brig and 40 transports al together 45 ships and in the second battle 29 transports, totally were 74 ships burned, destroyed or captured. Mr. E. Blaquiere coming after a voyage of 5 days from Hydra confirmed the details and said that the remaining 17 Turkish ships fled towards Boudroun.
