The Greek and Turkish navies in the Levant according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 15 July 1825

Napoli-di-Romania, 6 June. The provisional Greek government announced that a Turkish fleet of 100 warships and transports appeared in the waters of Cavodoro threatening the island Hydra and Spezzia. After a fierce fight on 1 and 2 June between Cavodor and Andros were the Turkish defeated by the Greek. Topal Pasha just managed with 22 ships to escape. Mid in the battle were a frigate and the admirals’ ship set on fire by Greek fire ships although Topal Pasha had all ready left his ship. Some Turkish ships including a frigate were separated from the fleet pursued and stranded on the coasts of Syra and Tinos. The main part of the transports were captured and brought to Hydra and Spezzia. The remaining ships of the Turkish fleet were still at the Aegean Sea and would probably within short time be captured.
