An item reported the arrival of the British steamship Transporter of 806 tobs net tonnage at Japan with on board two Japanese submarines built in England. The Transporter was especially built for this transport. She was docked in a dry dock where the hatches and a part of her deck were removed and she was deliberately submerged. The submarines were next floated above the hold and sunk. The next step was to pump out the water of the Transport to refloat her again. At Barrow she was restored in her original appearance and fitted out for the voyage. Departing on 26 September towards Yokohama and arriving Port-Saïd, Egypt (12 October), Colombo, Ceylon (begin November and Singapore (mid November) on 12 December in Japan.
