Captain Reuben T. Thomas of the Camilla convicted for abuse according to the Whalemen’s Shipping List dated Tuesday 18 December 1866

An item reported that captain Reuben T. Thomas of the bark Camilla of New Bedford was convicted on 17 November by the District Court for abusing the sailor Brison when they were at sea. He was acquitted for three more charges for abusing sailors in the same manner.
