Dutch bark Willem Hendrik burned off Batavia, Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Heldersche en Nieuwedieper Courant dated 15 November 1865
An item dated Den Helder the 8th reported that the fire on board of the Dutch bark ship Willem Hendrik lying off Batavia, Dutch East Indies broke out at 00.30 o’clock. Immediately launches of the Dutch warships Zr.Ms. Bromo, Prins Alexander der Nederlanden and Ardjoeno fitted out with fire hoses. It was impossible to extinguish the fire and she was towed with row boats to another location to protect the other ships lying in the bay. Marine launches brought the crew of the Willem Hendrik safely to the guard ship. At 04.45 was she towed to a location where she was no longer a danger for environment.
