Dutch ship Minerva underway from Amsterdam, Netherlands towards Philadelphia, USA wrecked according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated Tuesday 21 April 1840

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands the 17th referred to tidings received from Guernsey reporting the arrival on the 7th of a boat with 3 Dutch sailors. They belonged to the crew of the Dutch ship Minerva departed on 24 March in ballast from Amsterdam towards Philadelphia, USA. On the Sunday before the ship hit some rocks and was immediately smashed. The rest of the crew consisting totally of 10 men, captain Wiersma, his spouse and 2 children was nothing heard off.
