American whaler Joshua Bragdon lying in May at Barbadoes according to the Whalemen’s Shipping List dated Tuesday 7 June 1864

An item referred to a letter dated 12th May written by captain Childs on board of the bark Josh(ua) Bragdon of Ned Bedford, USA reported her lying at Barbadoes. There was 300 barrels sperm and 420 barrels whale oil unloaded to be transported to the USA on very short notice. She was to depart for a voyage of five months on western ground and intended to enter at Fayal, Azores in July-August 1865. Childs also reported the barks Alto and Willis of respectively Fairhaven and Mattapolsett unloading at Barbadoes oil. Measured 270 (?) tons. Agent Charles S. Randall. Departed on 17 June 1861 to the Atlantic.
