French troop transport Gironde underway from Singapore towards Mahé according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 27 August 1862

An item reported on 19 August that the French steam frigate Gironde commanded by M. Pacalis passed Sunda Strait coming from Singapore bound for Mahé [French town/colony in nowadays India] with troops embarked.(1)

1. A transport, laid down at Bordeaux, France in 1854, launched in 1855 and wrecked on 9 February 1867.
