Dutch privateer Goede Verwagting arrived at Zierikzee, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Groninger courant dated 28 December 1781

An item dated Zierikzee, Netherlands 19th reported that on the same evening the very fast well built barkentine de Goede Verwagting arrived coming from Dunkirk, France. She was in England fitted out as a privateer and copper doubled. She was to be fitted out as soon as possible and to be armed with 14/16-4pd guns, a crew numbering 50-60 men and to be commanded by captain Jean Caffin earlier with success commanding the privateer de Hoop. The ship was fitted out by a company financed with shares of ƒ 100.
