Italian dredger Cagliari launched at Schiedam, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Schiedamsche Courant dated 10 September 1909

An item reported the launching at the shipyard Gusto (firm A.F. Smulders), Schiedam, Netherlands on yesterday morning of the steel made hull of a bucket dredger with press pump built for account of the Italian government. Dimensions 35,00 x 6,50 x 2,40 (hold) metres. To be fitted out with 1-150 ihp main engine for the press pump, 1-100 ihp auxiliary engine for the bucket chain and water pump, 4 steam winches, a manual operated winch and a navy boiler with a heating surface of 80 square metres and 8 atmosphere. Dredging capacity 100 cubic metres/hour from a depth of 6 metres and to press this away over a distance of 500 metres with a height of 2 metres above the water surface.  Electrically lightened. The first of two similar dredgers. (1)
