15th reported that the Seeamt on the 13th concluded that
the cause of the fire on board of the steamship Bergedorf wasstill unknown and
that her captain had done everything to extinguish it. She was underway from
the Dutch East Indies towards Amsterdam, Netherlands when in the morning of the 5th
November three days after the departure from Port Said, Egypt
a fire was discovered. She was forced to enter Messina, Italy
where the fire was extinguished although cargo and ship were heavily damaged.
