An item referred to the newspaper De Nieuwe Courant which suggested that Venezuela intended to use submarines if the Dutch navy would blockade the Venezuelan coast. Later was in the last newspaper a letter published that the item was in fact nonsense while the Holland Boat Company did not exist anymore but became part of the Electric Boat Company, Quincy, Massachusetts, USA and there existed none stock of complete submarines. The Electric Boat Company was now building submarines of the US navy, did not have any completed submarine in stock or available to be sold. If Venezuela wanted to order a submarine to pay the whole purchase-money or able to guarantee that there would not be any discussion about money. The statement that the Electric Boat Company possessed some submarines in which none of the maritime powers were interested was also nonsense. During the existence had not been any maritime power been unwilling to accept a contracted submarine. Further more was a skilled crew necessary and which was not available. .
