Dutch fire ship Huis van Nassau or Nassya 1665

Of the admiralty Zeeland, bought as a pinnace ship in 1665, dimensions 105 (prow) x 23 x 12 feet, an armament of 2 guns and a crew numbering 12-13 men. Admiralty minute dated 1 April 1665: captain Dierick Jobsen, Admiralty minute dated 13 April 1665: agreed to prepare the fire ships and to fit them out with 2 bad iron guns for one shot and some wooden pieces for scaring the enemy, Admiralty minute dated 3 July 1665: the fire ship commanded by Dirck Jobsen arrived at Enkhuizen, Netherlands in a very ‘irrecoverable’ condition desperately needing repairs, Admiralty minute dated 20 July 1665: Willem Meerman appointed as commanding officer, before him Dirck Jobsen.
