British nuclear submarine HMS Churchill (S46) 1967-1991


Building ordered on 21 October 1965, laid down at shipyard of Vickers-Armstrong, Barrow-in-Furness, United Kingdom on 30 June 1967, launched on 20 December 1968, commissioned on 15 July 1970, decommissioned 28 February 1991 but yet not disposed. Displacement 4.000 (light)-4.400 (standard)-4.900 tonnes/4.823 long tons (submerged) and as dimensions 86,9 x 10,1 x 8,2 metres or 285.1 x 33.3 x 26.11 feet. Speed 28 (submerged) knots. Her crew numbered 103 men. The armament consisted of 6-21”/53,3cm torpedo tubes in the bow. Mark 8 torpedoes, Tigerfish torpedoes and RN Sub Harpoon missiles.
