German navy wanted more money for strengthening artillery and armour piercing shells according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1904-1905 no. 9
An item referred to the German magazine Marine Rundschau dealing with the post Artillery of 29.271.000 mark on the German naval budget for 1904-1904. This post was defended by remarking that the warships were better protected and the increased distance on which was fought needed more heavy and medium artillery. Further more were for the battleships and cruisers a larger amount of armour piercing shells needed. Further more was the small artillery to be strengthened as defence against attacking torpedo boats and the own torpedo boats needed a stronger armament.
