French budget for using former battleship Jena as target according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1909-1910 no.5

An item reported that to the French naval budget for 1908 a post of 55.000 francs was added to be used for gun exercises using the condemned battleship Jena. From a distance of 5-6 kilometres were armour shells filled with sand to be fired although many people had their doubts about the value of this kind of exercises.
