American submarine USS K-4 (1914) in 1923

Launched in 1914, completed in 1914, displacement 392 (surfaced)-620 (submerged) tons, horsepower 1.000 (surfaced)-600 (submerged), oil fired internal combustion machinery (surfaced) and electric machinery (submerged) and an armament of 4 torpedo tubes and 8 torpedoes. Suitable for coastal defence only.(1)

1. Of the K-class, preceded by the H-class and succeeded by the L-class. Laid down as the Walrus by Moran Company, Seattle, Washington, USA on 27 January 1912, launched on 19 March 1914, commissioned on 24 October 1914, reclassifed as SS-35 on 17 July 1920, decommissioned on 10 May 1923, stricken on 18 December 1930 and sold to be broken up on 3 June 1931.
