Laid down at Regio Cantieri do Castellammare di Stabia, Castellammare di Stabia, Italy on 1 February 1892, launched on 23 September 1896, completed on 1 May 1898, converted into a repair ship in 1916, stricken on 2 January and sold to be broken up which started on 13 March 1920. Of the Vettor Pisani-class consisting of the Carlo Alberto and Vettor Pisani, preceded by the Marco Polo and succeeded by the Giuseppe Garibaldi-class.

Displacement 6.614 (normal load)-7.128 (deep load) tons and as dimensions 99 (between perpendiculars)-105.7 (over all) x 18,04 x 7,2 metres or 324.10-346.9 x 59.2 x 23.7 feet. Fitted out with two vertical triple-expansion steam engines and 8 Scotch marine boilers supplying via 2 shafts 13.000 (design)-13.259 (sea trials) ihp allowing a speed of 18,6 (sea trials)-19 (design) knots. With a speed of 10 knots a range of around 5.400 nautical miles. Crew numbered 500-504mne, The armour consisted of a 11cm/4.3” (bow and stern)-15cm/5.9” (amidships) thick belt, 3,7cm/1.5” thick deck with the gun shields and conning tower protected by respectively 5cm/2” and 15cm/6” thick armour. The armament consisted of 12x1-15,2cm/6” quick firing 152/40 A Modello 1891 guns, 4-6x1-12cm/4.7” 120/40 A Modello 1891 quick firing guns, 14x1-5,7cm/2.2” Hotchkiss gins. 6-8x1-3,7cm1.5” Hotchkiss gins and 4-45cm/17.7” torpedo tubes.
