Large German owned torpedo plant founded at Venice, Italy according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1889 no. 1-2

An item reported that at the end of 1888 a large torpedo plant was founded at Venice, Italy by the Berliner Maschinebau Actiengesellschaft. The torpedoes were made of phosphor bronze. The foundation was a result of long during negotiations with the Italian government. The plant was founded on a extended area with a large machine house near San Giobbe, Venice and which area was gifted by the town. Nearby was a water basin for testing torpedoes. Except for the torpedoes were also other machinery manufactured for the navy, railway and industrial purposes.
