Experiments in the USA with decreasing combustibility of wood according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1895-1896 No. 7

An item referred to the Army and Naval Journal reporting that the Electric Fireproofing Company, New York, USA was experimenting with several kinds of wood to decrease the combustibility. So was yellow-pine tested during 5 minutes in an oven heated with a temperature of 1.000 degrees without catching fire although at both sides 1cm charred. Ash wood heated during 20 minutes with 1.000 degrees also did not catch fire.
