An item referred to the Army and Navy Journal reporting that the American submarine Plunger (1) was launched, being a sister ship of the Adder, Mocassin, Porpoise, Shark and Fulton. Speed 7 (submerged)-8 (surfaced) miles and a range of 40 (submerged)-500 (surfaced) nautical miles. Her crew numbered 7 men. The armament consisted of 1 torpedo launcher for which she carried 3 long Whitehead torpedoes with her.
