British armoured cruiser Imperieuse arrived at Batavia, Dutch East Indies coming from Sarawak according to the Dutch newspaper Javabode dated 7 May 1889

An item dated Batavia, Dutch East Indies reported the arrival of the British steamship HMS Impérieurse captain May coming from Sarawak.(1) Another Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 11th reported her departure in the afternoon a day earlier via Singapore towards Hong Kong.

1. Armoured cruiser of the Imperieuse-class, laid down by Portsmouth Royal Dockyard on 10 August 1881, launched on 18 December 1883, renamed Sapphire II depot ship since February 1905, renamed Imperieuse in June 1909 an sold to be broken up on 24 September 1913.
