Canada strengthening navy with former British destroyers HMS Comet and Crusader according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1938 no. 5

An item referred to the magazine Marine Rundschau dated May 1938 reporting that Canada bought from England the two destroyers Comet (1) and Crusader (2) which were to be stationed in the summer at Esquimault. From then on were 4 destroyers stationed along the Pacific coastline and 2 along the Atlantic coastline. The defence of the entrances to the passage between Vancouver and the mainland namely the Johnstone Strait in the north and the Juan de Fuca Strait in the south was to be improved. A minelayer became available for lying mine blockades. The personnel strength of the navy was to be increased with 242 men and would then number 119 officers and 1.462 petty officers and sailors.

A C-class destroyer.
