American protected cruiser USS Cleveland executed her 4-hours trials according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1903-1904 no. 7

An item reported that the American armoured cruiser Cleveland executed her 4 hours-trial with forced draft resulting with a displacement of 3.200 tons and 4,700 ihp in a speed of 16,49 miles while 16,5 miles was contracted. The trial was to be repeated.(1)

Building ordered on 3 March 1899, contract awarded on 14 December 1899, laid down by Bath iron Works, Bath, Maine, USA on 1 June 1900, launched on 28 September 1901, commissioned on 2 November 1903, decommissioned on 1 November 1929, stricken on 13 December 1929 and sold to be broken up on 7 March 1930.
