British firm Armstrong experimenting with heated air Whitehead torpedoes according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1907-1908 No. 8

An item referred to the magazine Engineering reporting that the British firm Armstrong tested a device to heat the air inside a torpedo using the latest Whitehead torpedo. The results were that on a course with a length of 915 metres yards the speed of a torpedo was 34,5 non-heated and 40 miles heated, the figures for courses of respectively 1.830 metres/2.000 yards, 2.745metres/3.000 yards and 3.660 metres/4.000 yards were respectively 28/37, unknown/30 and 20/22 miles.
