Russian survey vessel Toros forced to winter off Bonevi Island according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1937 No. 3

An item referred to the magazine Marine Rundschau dated March 1937 reporting that the Russian naval survey vessel Torosa (1) was frozen in the ice near the island Bonewi, Nordenkiøld-islands on the position 95 degrees East and 76 degrees North. The expedition on board of her was ordered to survey the island.

1. In autumn 1936-summer 1937 wintered a hydrographical expedition lead by N.N. Alekseev with the survey vessel Toros in Ledyanaya Bay, Bonevi Island, Nordenskiöld archipelago in the Kara Sea. Except for surveying the archipelago was the main purpose of the expedition to examine the Northern Sea Route.
