An item reported that the headquarters of the Albanian navy was located at Vlone while the commander in chief was captain Verjani Murtini. The Albanian coastline was divided into 7 districts each possessing 2 marine infantry regiments, 1 mobile artillery unit and a fixed artillery unit. Coloned Gjeli Argjiri was responsible for the coastal defence. On Saseno Island and at Vlone, Durres and Himare were fixed coast defence batteries available mostly remaining from the time Italy occupied Albania [1939-1944]. New Soviet produced guns were replacing the old guns of Italian origin.
