British icebreaker (ex-Polar Circle, 1990-1991) HMS Endurance (A 171) 1991-2016

Ex-MV Polar Circle 1990-1991 and HMS Circle 1991-1992. Built by Ulstein Hatlo, Norway and completed in 1990, commissioned on 21 November 1991, decommissioned in 2008 after she nearly was lost in December 2008 and transported back to England with the NV Target. Departed while towed to Turkey on 1 June 2016 to be broken up. United Kingdom-flagged, homeport Portsmouth and IMO 8901561. Displacement 6.100 tons, gross tonnage 5.129 tons, summer deadweight 2.200 tons and as dimensions 91 x 17,9 x 8,5 metres or 298.7 x 58.9 x 27.11 feet. Machinery consisted of 2 Bergen BRG8 diesels supplying 8.160hp allowing a speed of 14 knots and with a speed of 12 knots was the range 24.600 nautical miles. Armament consisted of 2-7,62mm Mk44 mini guns and 6-7,62mm LPGP machineguns and 2 Ice modified Lynx HAS 3 helicopters. Crew numbered 126 men.
